ABOUT US

Established in 2019, Good Grief Coffee Roasters was created to be anything other than “just another coffee shop”. Happily, though, what started as a simple millennial dream has evolved into so much more.

After just 8 short months of operation, Good Grief was thrown to the big bad wolf of Covid-19. Thanks to a lot of hard work, perseverance & an amazing local community, we came out on the other side stronger, wiser & exponentially more weathered than any 30-something should be. And even though curveballs are always guaranteed… looking at you clogged pipe pouring spoiled milk into the basement all over the green coffee on a Saturday afternoon… we continue to take each one in stride to offer the best darn roast we can boast.

We take great care in selecting the beans we bring into Good Grief and source our coffees through a sustainable importer who works to create meaningful relationships with producers that help to move coffee forward. With a Q-graded roaster on the team, our coffee-selecting process is as thorough as it is heart-palpitating; we drink a lot of coffee.

As we continue to grow, roast, & create out of our pink tiled homes in Thornbury and Creemore, we are led by Alix Haddy, our feisty owner who never met a challenge she didn’t face head-on (except moving green coffee beans… she can barely open a jar let alone move a 120 lb sack of dead weight). If you can’t make the trip to visit us in Thornbury or Creemore, check out our list of wholesalers who offer our specialty roasts across Ontario, order your supply online, or click here to become a wholesaler yourself.
